How Do I Transfer to Mount Mercy University?

When you inquire about Mount Mercy, you’ll be assigned an enrollment coach who can give you practical advice on your college decision and help you get started on your degree. Your coach is a great resource for tracking down your previously earned course credits and finding out which of those credits are transferable to Mount Mercy.

How Many Credits Can I Transfer?

Undergraduate Students

  • Undergraduate students may transfer up to 63 credit hours from a two-year institution and up to 93 credit hours from a four-year institution.
  • Students who have earned an associate degree in an approved major from an Iowa community college may transfer up to 75 credit hours from a two-year institution.

Mount Mercy University also accepts credit through:

  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
  • Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES)
  • The Assessment of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) portfolio documentation

Qualifying students may transfer up to 30 APEL credits and 60 CLEP credits into our degree programs.

Graduate Students

  • Graduate students have the potential to transfer up to 12 graduate-level credit hours.

How Long Will It Take to Finish My Degree?

It depends on the number of transfer credits accepted and the number of courses that are needed to meet graduation requirements. When you talk with your personal enrollment coach, you can discuss the timeline for your program and determine next steps for developing your academic plan.
