Classes are offered online in accelerated 5- and 10-week courses. We offer nine start dates per year so you can begin coursework (and graduate) faster.

What Courses Will I Take?

In addition to your general education classes and electives, your Liberal Studies degree will include courses such as these:

  • Core Curriculum Courses
    • 42 Core Curriculum Credits
  • General Elective Courses
    • 51 General Elective Credits
  • Concentration Courses
    • 30 Minimum Concentration Credits comprised of any 6 courses, 200-level or above and any 4 courses, 300-level or above from no more than three academic departments.

The liberal studies major requires at least 123 credit hours. Students may be currently enrolled at MMU or transfer into MMU to qualify for this major. Specific courses needed for graduation will depend on transferred courses. Talk with an enrollment coach for more information.

*Transfer Credit Policies

We want to make sure your prior academic work counts. You can transfer up to 93 credits from four year, regionally-accredited institutions and up to 63 semester hours from two-year institutions, subject to the Mount Mercy credit transfer policy. Some credit from nationally accredited and unaccredited institutions may also be transferred on a course-by-course basis. Keep in mind, though, that the final 30 credits of your degree must be taken at Mount Mercy.
